The year 2009 was a milestone year for Cantos Music Foundation with many exciting developments in our National Music Centre project as well as fulfilling our overall mission to create engaging musical experiences using our collection, cultural spaces and expertise.

National Music Centre Project

This has been the year the Cantos National Music Centre project came to life! Through our international architectural competition and public presentation process, Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the world now know what we're up to here in the East Village.

Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame Update

As 2009 draws to a close, it's high time for an update on the status of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and Collection.

Three Cheers for Volunteers

Cantos Celebrates The People Who Make it all Work

For the first time in Cantos' history, we significantly relied on the help of our friends in 2009. Between operating the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame for 12 hours a day for 10 days straight during this year's Stampede to building some much needed carts for our school programs to taking some amazing photographs of our collection, our friends came out in droves!

Cantos Supporters Help Dreams Come True

The fall fundraiser, special gifts and ongoing support keep the music playing in Calgary.

Cantos Collection Update

What's new and exciting in the Cantos Music Collection

The year 2009 saw a number of exciting additions to our world renowned collection of keyboard and electronic instruments and recording equipment.

Reaching Out

Cantos Programs Blossom in 2009

The focus on grassroots music community building continued en force in 2009 with a number of our programs growing and evolving and the addition of a couple of new ones as well!

Cantos is an amazing collection. Cantos is engaging programs. And Cantos is community. Using our world-renowned collection of more than 700 musical artifacts, our cultural spaces and our expertise, we offer programs ranging from teaching kids math through music to using music to help seniors with Alzheimer's coax memories of days gone by.

Sincerely,

Cantos Music Foundation
