Ms Freida Butcher is a Chartered Accountant and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta.  She graduated from the University of Calgary in 1982 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and articled with KPMG (1982 to 1987) in their Calgary office.

Ms Butcher joined Exploron Corporation and related companies as Controller on June 1^st, 2001 and became Vice President, Finance and Secretary on January 1^st, 2004.  She is responsible for the management, administration, accounting and taxation of a group of privately owned companies in the personal service and property management industry located mainly in Alberta. Prior to joining Exploron, she was employed by the University of Calgary for over thirteen years in various financial reporting positions including working with the Province of Alberta to develop common financial reporting and accounting principles for Alberta post secondary institutions including both universities and colleges. 

Ms Butcher has sat on various charitable boards as a director, officer and/or chairperson.  She is currently a director of Cantos Music Foundation and Secretary Treasurer for both Cantos and Norlien Foundation.  In the past, she has volunteered as a board member and/or officer with Alzheimer Society of Canada (Treasurer), Alzheimer Society of Calgary (President), The Institute of Internal Auditors (Director) and has taught business principles to grade nine students in Calgary through Junior Achievement.
