About
Cantos Music Foundation is a charitable organization in Calgary, Alberta whose vision it is to be a national catalyst for discovery, innovation and renewal through music.
We have one of the world’s largest collections of keyboard instruments including Elton John’s songwriting piano, the world’s first square piano, the synthesizer used in Close Encounters of the Third Kind and many other fascinating instruments. We also recently acquired the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame collection currently housed at Stampede Park in Calgary.
One of the coolest things about Cantos is all of the musical stuff that happens here. The other day, Juno nominee Chad van Gaalen was in recording on our Buchla 200E synthesizer, world renowned composer Philip Glass has led a tour through our collection and emerging and established artists are always performing on our music room stage. This blog is about these cool goings on. Check back often because there’s always something interesting happening here at Cantos.
