Canadian Pianist Plays in the Dark for the Environment
And now for something completely different…
Green musician Frank Horvat is touring the country and playing piano in the dark to raise awareness for environmental causes and, of course, music!
Admission is free!
CDs, download cards and sheet music will be available for purchase at the concert. 25% of proceeds of Frank’s new recording, A Little Dark Music to WWF-Canada (World Wildlife Fund).
The Concert:
An engaging, full-length piano recital featuring Frank’s original compositions and improvisations. With an unpredictable meld of musical styles, these pieces without words tell deeply personal stories. Hear from the composer himself about what influences his works.
Sustainability of the Green Keys Tour:
1. Concert venues powered by Bullfrog Power
2. No printed programmes at the concerts, a digital screen will be used to display the programme instead
3. Sustainable and public modes of transportation used as much as possible
4. All travel will be carbon offset
5. New CD’s packaging printed on FSC paper using vegetable inks
6. Download cards (made with recyclable plastic) offered instead of having to purchase physical product
7. All sheet music for sale printed on FSC paper
8. Public transit available for all venues
Things to know about this Concert:
During the second half of this concert, the venue will have little or no light. Those who find the darkness overwhelming are welcome to step out of the hall at any time during the performance – you might want to bring a flashlight though!
